Basically it is just like paying extra $3 for insurance and getting your order faster as SingPost handle Registered Mail faster than normal mail and no risk of lost mail.
 

For some, it may seems expensive to pay extra $3 for registered mail shipping but when compare with the time needed and the returning bus/MRT fare to a shop to buy, $3 is not expensive to pay for insurance (faster shipping, 100% no lost mail, replacement for damaged goods received, more care and attention is provided to the parcel so lesser chances of damages, a peace of mind, no need to worry about missing, delayed or damaged parcels).
