The model itself is really impressive, and big, once it is completed. I spent about three days on it, building after work. It is a challenging build, which I like, and its great to see the scale of the ship increase, as you add the fore and aft sections of the hull and finally the bridge. The designers have a done a neat job with the rear rudder and on-board crane, and the way this moves by turning the small screws on the roof. The little helicopter is great fun as is the submarine, especially the moving propellers and sub sampling arms. My only gripe is the heli-deck; it's far too big and high for this type of vessel; usually it would be on the rear. I therefore modified my model to lower the heli-deck, and put in a replica rear sub-launch derrick on the back. I also added seats in the submarine and helicopter to make them more realistic. I've added photos... This is superb value at this price point. I got the Lego Ideas Caterham and loved it so I wanted to buy another set but something more challenging - I think I achieved this. The kit comes with numbered bags ( 1 - 3). Bag 1 contains the pieces to build the helicopter and the submarine model. (1hr build time) Bag 2 has the pieces to build the main part of the ship. (4hrs build time) Bag 3 has the pieces to build the bridge, helipad and other finer detail. (1hr 45mins build time). The instructions supplied are pretty good but there are a couple of bits where I had to try and workout what was going on as I did get slightly lost.I used a few plates to put the smaller parts on which made them easier to find and also ensured that I didn't lose any.I'd definitely recommend this to someone who fancies building a cool ship! The only con I found was that the instructions are not supplied to build the barge but these can be downloaded from the Lego website.Written by a customer while visiting shop.LEGO.comWas this review helpful?Yes (0)No (0)ReportRead all reviews
