I am very disappointed in how pale/light the colors are. The colors definitely need to be more vibrant - but maybe that's why they are actually washable. Otherwise they do work well as a dry erase marker - go on and off smoothly. We use them in our school binders to learn time, temperature, and days of the week, dates of the week/day. So we trace/write on paper sheet protectors. I'm sure they'll work just fine on any dry erase surface.
