Then I saw this and I gave it a go. It's awesome! Like someone else said, it tackles glitter polish like nobody's business!! I haven't tried it on acrylics, but I usually just take those off by slipping dental floss under them and breaking them off. Obviously it's going to take a while if you're just trying to use acetone to remove them. It seems like there's not a ton of acetone in this, so I know it'll eventually be so full of glitter and polish that it will turn gray, but at that point I'll just dump it and refill it. I love that it eliminates the hassle of cotton balls. Nothing upsets me more than trying to fix just one nail, but I end up with cotton sticking to all my other nails. Soaked my fingers and all it did was make my fingers dry did not remove the gel nail polish at all. Had to use my nail clipper to scrape the nail polish off myself.
