I am 136lbs and I buy the xl so I can dry it in the dryer and still fit into it. These dresses are not too short (I'm 5'2") and are great for very casual wear (grocery shopping, hanging out, sometimes even for a casual get together with a sweater and a belt. The fabric is thin but I always feel that I am adequately covered. The price can't be beat and if I choose to throw last year's dress, I don't worry about it. I can buy 4 of these dresses for the same price as 1 Land's End dress on sale. Quality is not the same but for running around town, they're great. Of course I buy the LE dress for different occasions. I'm ecstatic I found this affordable alternative. This isn't the case. Item is 100% cotton...and not a soft cotton. It's VERY thin and scratchy like low thread-count sheets. As far as fit, I ordered a medium, and it fit me well. I have broad shoulders so sometimes I need a large, but even with the fabric having NO give to it, it still fit. If the fabric was softer and had any stretch to it at all, this dress would be ideal. With it being 100% cotton, it hangs kinda stiff and would require ironing. Maybe after several washes it would soften? It's a shame because it is a cute cut and the sleeve length was perfect. It was not that awful cap sleeve that is hard to wear past the age of 40.
