What is the Weighted Vest?

A Weighted Vest is simply a vest worn over your torso to provide varying amount of resistance. The general purpose of a Weighted Vest is to add extra weight for body-weight exercises; their high versatility allows for a broad range of exercises, such as walking, jogging, rope-jumping, bike riding, core strengthening, and weight training.

There are broadly 2 type of Weights: Adjustable Weighted Vest aand Fixed Weighted Vest. The Adjustable Weighted Vest allows you to add more weight as strength improves for greater workout intensity. However, a Fixed Weighted Vest provides for a more gentle and comfortable fit.

HOW IT WORKS:

A weight vest workout can be used for a variety of training approaches to improve your physical performance for a wider set of muscle groups. The added weight of these vests create additional resistance during muscle building, body-weight exercises, and heart-pumping cardio activities - making you expend more energy to achieve your fitness goals.

When adding a weight vest to your fitness program, start out light then gradually work your way up to a heavier weighted vest over a few months. Going too heavy, too soon can put excessive stress on your joints and cause injury.

Benefits from wearing weight vests are seen in both strength training and aerobic activities. Carrying extra weight during exercise requires added strength and oxygen, all the while sapping your energy stores. With any exercise the more weight used, the more the muscles have to adapt to the higher weight-which builds strength and muscular endurance.

When running with a Weighted Vest, the cardiovascular system has to go into overdrive as a result of the added resistance, thus strengthening the lungs and an athlete's ability to consume oxygen.
