How AQUACEL® Ag+ Dressing Works
Ag+ dressings feature two powerful technologies working synergistically to manage the barriers to wound healing. The dressings is made from two layers of 1.2% ionic silver-impregnated Hydrofiber (sodium carboxymethylcellulose) and enhanced with anti-biofilm technology, stitched together with cellulose strengthening fibres.
Ag+ Technology is a unique combination of silver and anti-biofilm agents that disrupts and breaks down biofilm slime to expose bacteria. It kills a broad spectrum of bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant superbugs, with its reservoir of silver, and prevents biofilm reformation.
Hydrofiber® Technology creates an ideal environment for healing and for Ag+ Technology to go to work. It l
ocks in excess wound exudate, bacteria and biofilm to help minimise cross infection and prevent maceration. The hydrofiber responds to wound conditions by forming a cohesive gel, while helping to minimise pain associated with dressing changes.
Indications
Primary dressing for moderately to highly exuding wounds that are infected or at increased risk of infection and wounds where bacteria are a suspected cause (or a factor in) chronicity/ non-progression.
-
Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (Stage 2-4) and diabetic ulcers
-
Surgical wounds (e.g. post-operative, donor sites, dermatological)
-
Partial thickness second degree burns
-
-
Wounds that are prone to bleeding such as wounds that have been mechanically or surgically debrided
-
Painful wounds
Contraindications
Should not be used on individuals who are sensitive to or who have had an allergic reaction to the dressing or its components.
