Do you have untameable frizzy or flyaway hair that you just can’t seem to control? I tried the Redken Frizz Eraser treatment to find out if it can solve my unruly hair woes

While most of us keep to the beauty habit of applying sunscreen daily, you should consider doing the same for your hair too.

According to hair styling experts at Redken, humid and hot weather can make hair more frizzy. The moisture from humid weather causes hair fibres to swell up, which in turn makes your locks coil up, thus forming that dreaded frizz. Scary stuff, right?

I tried Redken’s Frizz Eraser in-salon treatment at Picasso Hair Studio, which purports to reduce frizz with heat-protecting, water-repelling and moisturising ingredients from its new Frizz Dismiss line and complementary Redken products. This was how my experience had gone.

HOW IT WORKS
To untangle frizzy hair, the Frizz Dismiss line is formulated with primary ingredients aquatoril (a hydrating ingredient said to repel unwanted moisture), Praxaci seed oil (to moisturise and repair hair fibres from within) and lightweight silicone (as a heat protectant ingredient).

Similar to the SPF ratings of sunscreen, the Redken Frizz Dismiss line has what it calls the Frizz Protection Factor (FPF) that runs from 10 to 40; 10 for relatively easy fly-away hair to 40 to tame the most unruly tresses.

THE TREATMENT PROCESS
The treatment itself consists of five main steps which take approximately 45 mins to over an hour, depending on the length and thickness of your hair.

First, I was treated to a thorough rinse with the Frizz Dismiss shampoo. Based on the current condition of my hair, the hairstylist then created a custom-blend of treatment products from the Redken Chemistry System, which was applied to my dyed wavy hair.

The spray-on Redken Shot-prix lotion was then used to rebalance the pH value of my hair and seal the hair cuticles to prevent humidity from frizzing it up again. My tresses were then washed with the rinse-off Frizz Dismiss conditioner applied to it. The last step involved the application of the Frizz Dismiss hair mask.

THE RESULT
While the treatment is not a miracle worker that makes all signs of frizz vanish (our humid weather doesn’t help!), the difference is definitely noticeable, at least in terms of the frizz control.

Even a week later, the treatment continued to make my hair much more easy to manage while keeping my short bob in shape, without much styling needed. Friends and colleagues had noticed the difference too!

Hello all! Here to share about my recent hair journey with Redken Singapore!

Frizz has always been a constant problem in my life. I’m gonna admit it, my hair was unruly and frizzy since young and I’ve never really thought about how it came about. We live in a city where the weather is generally hot and humid. Everyone knows that our skin needs protection from harmful UV rays but did you know that humidity can damage our hair too? We have heard of SPF (Sun Protection Factor) in sunblocks where the higher the rating, the greater the protection right? Well, Redken has come up with the FPF (Frizz Protection Factor), the first ever professional scale that allows you to choose the protection you need based on hair type and humidity level.

Frizz Dismiss leave-in smoothing cream | Frizz Dismiss treatment mask

Redken’s leave-in smoothing cream (FPF40) provides absolute protection against frizz with lasting control, especially for coarse and unruly hair. I like to use it on towel dried hair before styling because my hair would then be protected from the blowdrying. Finally, I would apply the treatment mask once a week, from root to the tip of my hair after shampooing.

FPF10 Frizz Dismiss Fly-away Fix

This fly-away kit is really the key to combat frizz on the go. It comes in a box of 50 sheets, allowing quick and effective de-frizzing anywhere, anytime. As someone who spends long hours outside, my hair starts to get messy by midday. Having this kit with me means I can look good anytime of the day! Take one sheet and gently smooth over the surface of dry hair to calm frizz, static and fly-aways. Repeat as needed. These sheets are infused with lavender oil that restores shine and nourishment to your hair. Contrary to popular belief, dabbing water on your hair does not help de-frizz your hair at all!

I also had the opportunity to experience the Frizz Eraser treatment at Redken’s flagship salon, Capello Loft @ The Centrepoint. The treatment lasted about an hour and was very relaxing overall. I was too comfortable in my massage chair and felt rather reluctant to get up for the hair wash haha! The salon is also well equipped with entertainment (e.g. iPads) to keep me occupied. My hair felt very smooth and soft after the treatment and my hairstylist, advised me to continue using the Frizz Dismiss treatment mask at home. Left the salon feeling amazing that day!

Now the secret’s out, proper sun protection is the key to maintaining great hair! The Frizz Dismiss range is a great choice to battle frizz and I would definitely stock up on these products for our hot climate here.

To healthy hair and luscious locks anytime, anywhere!

Love,
Joanna
