There’s a saying on Hainan Island that “if you don’t have Wenchang chicken, a feast is impossible”
(无没有文昌鸡不成席, Wú méiyǒu wénchāng jī bùchéng xí)
or more colloquially, “it’s just not a party without Wenchang Chicken!”
The secret to Wenchang chicken isn’t in the preparation—which is simple to the point of starkness—but in the chickens themselves, which are fattened up on a rich diet that normal livestock can only dream of.
The chicken eats the banyan seed but is fatty, put to feed for 8 to 9 months, then put them in the pacific place of avoiding the light, feed them with the peanut cakes, coconut meat silk, Fanci, hot rice...etc. to become fatty.
Cooking Methods
3 types of Easy way to prepare:
Steaming
~ Put content in a plate steam for 30 mins
Boiling
~ Boil chicken with the Vacuum bag for 30 mins
Microwave
~ Put content in a plate and defrost for 8-10mins, turning the contents while defrosting
~ Heat on medium high for 10 mins until hot.

Fresh coconut WenChang Chicken Soup
Put whole chicken on steamer after remove from packaging, the same method as steamed fish, steamed 15-20 minutes;
Cut Wenchang chicken into bit-size pieces
Prepare Hot pot soup made with fresh coconut water with fresh coconut meat cut into strips
Boil the coconut water with Wenchang Chicken for another 20minute and it will be ready to serve
Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice
Find a pot big enough for your chicken, then fill with water and boil.
Put in Wenchang Chicken with the whole package together, cook for 10 minutes,
Turn the chicken to the other side and cook for 10 minutes
Unpack and drain the excess water and oil.
Cut into pieces and it will be Ready-to-Serve
