They must be on the same frequency which is very poor technology. Battery life is pretty good and they do charge fast. If you buy only one then you will be fine unless another child has one also then they mess each other up. It ran fine for the first couple of days, then the battery charger gave false readings by the Charging Status Light blinking green after the battery had only been charging for about 15 minutes, where the directions state it takes 1-1.5 hours for a full charge. Also, the transmitter unit, with brand new batteries, decided to quit responding yesterday. Before, the green indicator light would turn on when you moved one of the directional joysticks, but that does not happen anymore. I originally bought this because of the New Bright name, but I guess like most products these days, they "don't make 'em like they used to".
