First-ever Philippines Doll
There are more than 20 dolls representing the Asian Continent in the line, and the 2013 Philippines Barbie Doll is the first ever to represent the nation of 7,000+ islands in the western Pacific Ocean. This inspiring “Maria Clara” style dress takes its name from a famous Filipino novel. This modern take on the country’s traditional “Maria Clara” gown, is complete with dramatic alternating gold and black panels on the floor-length skirt as well as beautiful lace details on the overshirt.
A New Look for Dolls of the World
Philippines Barbie Doll is also part of a classic travelogue-inspired update to the beloved series, thanks to Barbie Collector Designer Linda Kyaw. While adding a sense of breezy fun and fashion flair to the line, even the Dolls of the World packaging got a makeover. The dolls now come in travel-trunk-inspired doll boxes, with a space for keeping small travel keepsakes with the doll.
