Everything seems to be as-described and free of defects, although the color is slightly different from what I expected. It is described as black and grey, but the black isn't really a true pitch-black like black polyester dress pants are. It's a lighter shade of black. Everything is polyester which is a synthetic plastic fiber. It therefore has a slight reflective sheen and a soft, slippery feel, regardless of "thread count". It also has water repellant properties, which is good in that it should resist staining, be trivial to clean, retain color through many washes, dry quickly, and reduce possible sources of allergens, but I find that it feels more icky when you are sweating relative to cotton. Polyester also is subject to static cling when there is very low air humidity and you lack your own perspiration to dissipate the electricity. He loves it. It looks very nice. The comforter was not the thickest but I would not say it is thin. As for the sheets they are thinner but nice. I was really please with the look and quality. Much better than what I thought it was from looking at it online. The plaid pattern is much more intense and over all better in my opinion. The black is more of a smokey charcoal black. Not exactly gray but not pitch black. As for overall quality I have no complaints. I didn't spend very much money and do expect it to be as thick and luxurious as a $100+ comforter set. I am very pleased and most of all so is my son. Looks great in his room and held up well in the washer and dryer. I washed them and dried them but did not move my dryer heat setting, which I am very upset about now... anyways went and pulled them out and the comforter was melted! No joke MELTED! The product is great but just be very cautious when drying. The comforter is nice and puffy. The elastic on the corners of the fitted sheet are nice and thick unlike other sets that I have purchased in the past. The quality of the sheets, pillowcase and sham are better than I had expected.
