スチールに亜鉛メッキを施した椅子は鈍い光沢感、触感などに優れており、またアウトドアでも使用できるなど機能的でもあります。発売されるやいなや、商業的に大成功をおさめますが、その最大の要因は、折りたたんだメタルシートを採用したことにより、軽量化を実現したことでした。
この軽やかな意匠により、パリをはじめとするフランスのカフェなどでは大変よく見かけられます。21世紀に入っても世界中からのオーダーが絶えない椅子は、ニューヨーク近代美術館やポンピドゥーセンターなどにコレクションされています。
