'Sooho' means protecting the Olympics and 'rang' is a word derived from 'rang' of Korean folk song 'Arirang'.

'Soohorang' symbolizes "challenge spirit and enthusiasm".

'Bandabi' is a motif of a half-moon bear, symbolizing will and courage.

'Banda' means half moon of half-moon bear, and '-bi' means to celebrate the contest.

The emblem of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics (ㅍ ㅊ) was designed with the motif of 'Pyeong Chang'(Korean: 평 창)

The symbol 'ㅍ' is designed with the motif of sky, earth and person.

The symbol 'ㅊ' is designed with the motive of the snow.
