
How does flossing work?
Through various application possibilities, compression isexerted on the muscles by the flossband. The high fixation pressureenables an inhibitory effect on the pain receptors and underlyingfascia and thus loosens up the adhesions and scar tissue.
This takes place under active and passive movement of theextremity on which the band is wrapped. When the flossband isreleased, the fluid or blood stasis (u201ctraffic jamu201d) is terminatedand fresh blood hydrates the tissue (so-called sponge technique).This leads to the relief of different types of pain.
When is flossing used?
Flossing can be used preventively before and after sports. It isalso a useful treatment method in physiotherapy. The therapist"flosses" when pain restricts the movement of the athlete orpatient. Flossing improves the bodyu2019s power transmission pathwaysby facilitating more power generation in the tissue throughimproving viscoelasticity. By requiring less energy for mobilitydue to improved axial transmission through the body, it leads tomore efficiency. Due to the resultant pain relief, patients andathletes are able to move significantly better and faster, withoutresorting to pain relieving postures.
