CARTILAGE PROTECTION: GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS (GAG)
The Green Lipped Mussels from New Zealand and their extract contain substances called glycosaminoglycans (GAG).
GAG are large molecules that are comprised of several glucosamine building blocks and have a strong water-binding capacity in the intra-articular space and in the cartilage. They help to lubricate the joints and keep the cartilage supple so that it can do its job as a shock absorber.
Since the effectiveness of GAG lasts only a few days, it must be produced or supplied on a regular basis. GAG can be supplied to the body directly via the Green Lipped Mussel extract of indirectly via its building block, glucosamine. GAG supplementation makes sense with increasing age and during the stress of sports, for the body’s own production is potentially no longer sufficient to keep the joints healthy.
 
INTAKE AND USAGE 
The intake and use of the Pernaton Green Lipped Mussel products may vary. Although in some cases the use of the gel can bring fairly quick successful results, the capsules can take up to 3 months before the full effect is achieved.
 
Pernaton gel should be applied onto joint areas like knees, shoulders, fingers, elbows etc. For sports men and women, the gel can be applied before and after exercise. Application after bath is also highly recommended as pores of skin are open to absorb the gel. We recommend application at least twice a day to see good results.
