M740 - BK3 M740 - WT 3 The origin of the name New Balance means to bring a sense of new (balance) to the person wearing. Based on know-how as a maker of orthodontic shoes that makes it possible only with a deep understanding of anatomical knowledge of the foot, orthopedic surgery and exercise physiology, we started manufacturing custom-made running shoes in the 1960s. In 1972, James S. Davis (current New Balance Athletic Shoe, Incorporated Chairman of the Board) bought New Balance. At that time, the six employees were of a scale to produce 36 pairs a day. Davis engaged in development by running himself to realize the ideal running shoes and brought on the creative shoes concept In step racing. In the late 70's, we announced shoes that embodied this concept and gained tremendous support from runners. In 1988, model M 576 which used leather for upper was announced. This model also attracted attention in the fashion field. Since then, while continuing the tradition, we are concentrating the latest technologies and developing shoes that pursue better fit. Currently it produces a wide variety of products including apparel, watch, bicycle.
