It is packaged in a semi-durable reusable container with several heavy childproof bags inside containing the 229 pieces. Unless someone sorts out and groups them in like units, the huge pile of pieces is not conducive to any assembly ideas ? only confusion as to what is expected or even possible. Fortunately several large colored diagrams of project possibilities are included, which are extremely valuable to clueless people like me. A patient older brother, a father figure, or anyone the slightest bit familiar with construction of models, toys or even the construction trades would be the ideal partner for a child of three or more to devise and assemble these projects. The individual pieces are excitingly colorful and pleasantly flexible for a great assembly experience. The colors designate the placement of cogs and as well as the size of the connecting links. The ""eyes" add fun to the assembled toys. The two distinct types of wheels, as well as the various colored and shaped cogs add variety to the construction models possible. The individual parts are very durable but unless they are gathered into slide-lock plastic bags and ideally stored in the original container, the pieces will be easily scattered and lost. Was this review helpful?Yes (0)No (0)ReportThis captured my son's attention immediately!11/18/2014Average rating:5out of5stars, based onreviews11/18/2014by LeHale ?Top 100 contributer ?Spark reviewer - received free productThis captured my three-year-old son's attention immediately. He was excited before I even opened the tub, and once I opened it up, he couldn't wait to help me unpack all the pieces. We spent over an hour building stuff before he started to loose interest (he is only three), and we have played with it every day since. He loves this just as much as his other building toys. He has hundreds of blocks, but this set is different. There are plenty of different shapes, including great big sturdy wheels, so he has a bit more of a building challenge verses stacking or snapping blocks together. Honestly, the tub looks a little small for the price you pay, but it is full. There is very little packaging material, so you're not getting a box that is three-quarters empty. The tub is plastic, sturdy, and takes a bit of effort to open, which I am grateful for. With 229 pieces, I don't want my toddler to be able to sneak it open himself. He is strong, but he can't get it open on his own, which also means that he can't knock it over and have the pieces spill out everywhere. This set came with a stack of full-color cards with building projects based off of different vehicles. There are no step-by-step instructions, just a nice picture of the finished model. I was fine with this, as I wasn't expecting to toss some instructions at my kid and have him figure it out on his own. The first couple of days, he had no interest in building what was on those cards. He had pieces to explore, but after a couple of days, he was willing to help me build stuff, and he loves it! I can see where this set would be ideal for classrooms. There are plenty of pieces here for my son plus a couple of his little friends. The pieces don't get stuck together either, so there isn't a bunch of needless frustration. My only complaint is that the set has a pretty limited color scheme. Since it is sold as an "Education" set, I would have thought they would include a wider range of colors even though it is a transportation set. With 229 pieces, it wouldn't have hurt to toss in a few pinks or some other "girly" color. I have a son, and he doesn't care what color his toys are, especially if it has wheels. There are a few purple pieces, but I think little girls are too often told that building sets are for boys, so having more color variety would be helpful. Was this review helpful?Yes (0)No (0)ReportRead all reviews
