It is an all-glass lens of 12 groups of 10 groups including 3 aspheric lenses and 1 ED lens.
Adopting seven circular aperture stop blades, fine exposure control in 1/3 steps (17 steps in all) is also possible.
Fast and quiet AF is realized by weight reduction of the focus lens and high precision motor.
Also, the shortest shooting distance of 15 cm (about 7 cm lens end) macro shooting was made possible.
Equipped with an optical image stabilization function, it suppresses camera shake during hand-held shooting for both still images and movies.
