What is LH Surge?
For Ovulation Strips, they are very different from pregnancy test strips so the strips work differently. For Ovulation Strips, they are used to test Luteinizing Hormones(LH) Surge which is from when the LH is highest in our body. Surge in LH level occurs 24-36 hours before ovulation. We have LH in us everyday, so that explains why u see a faint line on the area mark "T". But we need to test for LH Surge so what we are looking for is a dark visible line on "T" which mean that there is a LH surge. Once you have 2 positive test(2 dark line for 2 days) means there is a LH Surge. Once you get an LH Surge, within the next 24-36hours, your egg will be release. It stays there for 24 hours waiting to be fertilize.
If your Menstrual cycle is 28 days, you can start testing on the 13th day onwards. The 2 test strips on the package shows the comparison of the day 13th and day 14th of a normal cycle. To show you have LH surge is when you have 2 days of positive results(dark lines) which means the egg will be release with in 24-36 hours and the mature egg is only viable for 24 hours after ovulation. Which means if you get positive results, you can start trying already. Please note that the male sperm can last up to 5 days in the sperm supportive mucus found in the fertile days of cycle
