Si tratta di un cutter molto armato costruito per la Marina britannica
in numerosi esemplari,piu o meno simili, nella seconda meta del settecento per far
fronte ai contrabbandieri i quali,per inciso,furono i primi ad usare questo tipo
di imbarcazione
(sembra che i cantieri inglesi li costruissero a coppie: uno per
i contrabbandieri e uno per le dogane..).
Naturalmente venne impiegato anche con mansioni militari di guardacoste,sorveglianza
dei porti,ricognizione,avviso, ecc.
Da questi cutters derivarono direttamente, verso la fine dell'ottocento,
le imbarcazioni sportive e prettamente da regata.
Il modello riproduce in scala 1:72 un esemplare costruito nel 1797.
E' armato di 12 cannoni e numerose colubrine.

The Hunter is a well equipped cutter,built for the British Navy in many,more of
less similar copes,in the second half of the seventeenth century,to face the smugglers,who
incidentally,were the first to use this type of ship(it seems that the
Englis shipyards built them in couples:on for the smugglers and one for the Customs...)
Of course the Hunter was used also
as coast-guard and for military function of port survey,scout warning and so on.From
these cutters derived,towards the end of the ninteenth century,the sports boats
and those meant for the regattas.The model reproduces,to a scale of 1:72, a cutter
built towards 1797. It is equipped with 12 guns and several culverins.
