Product Description
This is a Tamiya 1/700 Scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the aircraft carrier Zuikaku ("Auspicious Crane"), a Shokaku-class aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Second World War. Model kit features: Kit has weighted waterline hull, multipart superstructure island, 1-piece engraved flight deck, ship's boats, filigree cranes and masts plus anti-aircraft batteries. Also includes aircraft: A6M2 Zero fighters (x5), D3A Type 99 'Val' dive bombers (x4) and B5N Type 97 'Kate' torpedo bombers (x4). Completed model is approximately 14.4" long. Painting guide for December 1941 scheme and decals representing flight deck markings, aircraft national insignia and ensign. *Historical Synopsis: The Zuikaku was one of the six carriers that attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Accompanied by her sister ship the Shokaku ("Soaring Crane") of Carrier Division Five under the command of Rear Admiral Hara, the Zuikaku launched two waves of air attacks against U.S. Naval installations and battleships in Pearl Harbor. The Zuikaku was sunk by U.S. Navy dive-bomber and torpedo-bomber in the battle off Cape Engano on October 24, 1944.
