The DualShock 4 Controller offers some new features that allow you to explore new ways of playing and have been compiled with support from the developer community. The "Share" button allows you to easily publish gameplay in real-time via streaming sites like Ustream. There, other gamers can comment on games or even directly join and help out. You can also upload pictures or videos to Facebook using the "Share" button. On the front of the DualShock 4 is an LED light that can shine in different colors to show the color of the character in the game and to identify a player so easily. The colors can also provide the player with useful information, for example, when the character takes damage in the game.

The DualShock 4 has been developed with a second peripheral device, a camera (not included) that can sense the depth of the environment in front of it, and which can use the LED light to determine the position of the controller in three-dimensional space.

The DualShock 4 offers a touchpad on its front and thus a new input method. In addition, there is a built-in speaker and a headset port to transfer high-class sound effects from the games. With a headset (not included), you can chat with your friends during online gaming and listen to sound effects from the controller. The dual analogue sticks have been enhanced to provide greater precision, better material on the surfaces, and an improved shape for more accurate control. The L2 / R2 buttons on the top of the controller have been rounded down and are now easier and more fluid to use.
