Plant Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae).

Method of Extraction: The oil is steam distilled from the freshly cut flowering tops.

Main Theraputic Properties: Analgesic, Antibacterial, Antifungal, Anti-inflammatory, Antirheumatic, Antispasmodic, Calmative. Contraindications: Non toxic and non irritant in prescribed doses.

Did you know: The plant name is derived from the latin 'Lavare' - to wash, probably from its use to cleanse wounds.

Lavender is a hardy shrub which grows up to one meter in height. Lavender has a fresh, floral, sweet aroma and is clear to pale yellow in colour. Our Lavender grows at around 1,000 metres in the foothills of the Alps, in the Provence region of France. It has a 44% Linalyl Acetate content indicating a superior quality oil. Its overall Ester content is 50-52%, which gives this exceptionally fine oil its gentle, rounded aroma.

Lavender is best known for its relaxing properties; try placing two drops on a handkerchief by your pillow at bedtime. As Lavender blends very well with many other oils, try the following blend: 3 drops of Lavender, 3 drops of Mandarin and 1 drop of Geranium in a teaspoon of Sweet Almond oil, add to a warm bath for a long, relaxing soak.

Organic Grapefruit 10ml

Grapefruit has a fresh, sweet, clean citrus scent. The main origins for Grapefruit are Italy, Israel and USA, though now South Africa is coming strongly into the market.  We have selected this excellent Israeli product for its clean, fresh odour.

If you need a pick-me-up first thing in the morning, try adding 3 drops of Grapefruit, 2 drops of Rosemary and 1 drop of Bergamot, blended in a teaspoon of Sweet Almond oil, to a bath. Alternatively stir the same essential oils into a dose of unfragranced shower gel.

To improve the appearance of cellulite, blend 3 drops of Grapefruit and 3 drops of Juniperberry with 15ml of Coconut oil and massage the area vigorously. Always try to work in the direction of the heart.

Patchouli 10ml

Patchouli is an earthy-sweet, musky and soothing aroma good for relaxation. It is a well known aphrodisiac and is one of the few essential oils that will improve with age. It also benefits the skin as it promotes tissue repair and has anti-infectious properties

In a burner or diffuser, Grapefruit blends well with the other citrus oils and herbs such as Rosemary, Clary Sage, Thyme or Lavender.
