本来、アリンコチェアは、アルネ・ヤコブセンによりデンマークの製薬グループであるノボノルディスク社の社員食堂用の椅子としてデザインされました。それゆえ、美術館や学校、カフェなどの幅広い施設で使用されています。また、ダイニングチェアとしても非常に座り心地も良く、日常生活に馴染みやすいデザインです。芸術とまで称された美しい独特なフォルムと、どこか愛嬌のある背もたれの印象は、一度目にしたら忘れられません。
アリンコチェアは、積み重ねる（スタッキング）ことができます。使わない時には簡単に積み重ねることができて便利です。薄い成形合板と細いスチールアームで作られた軽さと、何脚も積み重ねられる機能性で、公共の場で活躍し、その後カラーも増えて長年のロングセラーとなりました。また、積み重ねたときに、スチールパイプでチェアの座面が傷まないように、座面の裏のスチールパイプに４点の保護パーツが取り付けられ、これが積み重ねた時に、座面に触れるようになっています。中央にも蓋が取り付けられています。
