NOW Betaine HCl with Pepsin is formulated with two very important elements of normal digestion: Hydrochloric Acid and Pepsin.* Hydrochloric Acid produces the appropriate acidic environment to further support the digestive process by creating the proper conditions for the absorption of nutrients in the intestine and the maintenance of a healthy balance of gut bacteria.* Pepsin is an enzyme that partially breaks down proteins in foods.* Thus, Hydrochloric Acid and Pepsin is a combination traditionally used to promote the release of nutrients from food and support normal digestion.*
