More on Acupressure

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is an ancient Chinese technique based on the principles of acupuncture, and involves the use of finger pressure (without the needles) on specific points along the body.

Acupressure is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centers in the body. The vibrating tip of the OSIM uPen handheld massager stimulates the energy centres to release the blocked energy.

What is blocked energy?

Chinese cultures believe that there are energy centres along the meridian pathways in the body that carry energy called Qi (pronounced as Chi). Through using electrical devices, Western scientists have also proven the existence of these points.

It is believed that this energy creates health and well-being, and disruption to this energy flow causes one to fall ill or feel unwell. Toxic build-up in muscle tissues is one such example of energy blockages. This accumulation of toxins causes muscle stiffness, which in turn puts abnormal pressure on nerves, blood and lymph vessels.

When you use the OSIM uPen handheld massager to apply acupressure stimulation on the various points on the body, the body's own recuperative powers are activated. The toxins are diffused and the stimulation removes the energy blocks.

In a nutshell

Acupressure massage therapy is used to maintain the body's energy centres. This is by unblocking congestion in the flow of Qi and ensure that this flow doesn't get interrupted. The main goal of Acupressure massage is to bring the body back into its natural balance and let nature continue its course.
