Blue mountain appear through sea of clouds. Mt. Fuji - this mountain is one of the symbol of Japan and World Heritage. This beautiful mountain have various face. "Aka Fuji" is one of the them. Now, sun appear from the horizon. With turning night sky into red orange - dye Mt. Fuji little by little. Due to blue of Mt.Fuji, this red orange is little darker and profound. And how overwhelming existence is ! This sight is so magnificence that many famous artists draw unanimously. The most famous is "Gaifu-Kaisei" by Hokusai Katsushika. Hokusai drew various figure of Mt. Fuji. The collection is "Fugaku-36kei". He used "Hanga" that is most popular technique to make "Ukiyoe". Now, PILOT ,the present Hokusai draw by using "Maki-e".




Tradition and Innovation

Drawing Maki-e on pen, this innovative thought raise pencil to the art. The technique used on this pen is called "Togidashi Maki-e". To protect gold leaf from peeling off, Urushi is lacquered on the gold-leaf picture. After this, carefully shaving by using charcoal. As a result, the surface become flattened, and film of the the Urushi protect gold leaf from peeling off. "Shave Urushi and Maki-e appear". In this technique, the brightness of gold leaf is very calm. But for making supreme shine, sophisticated and delicate technique is needed. Maki-e fountain pen maked by craftsman is exactly beautiful, but dignified existence at the same. Many people try to grasp supreme moment. But to do this, technique and patience is needed like making Maki-e. Oh, smile of weather is needed too.
