Made exclusively of cork from cork oak trees, QUADCORK is a 100% natural anti-vibration insulation and acoustic treatment product with the added benefit of a high degree of thermal insulation. The natural color is a dark neutral between brown and black. Due to its dimensional elasticity and controlled porosity and density, this expanded cork agglomerate reduces sound levels of structure-born transmission, airborne noise and reverberation time. Quad Cork QCK006 comes in 9.85'' x 9.85''x2.36'' tiles that are simply glued to the surface of walls or ceilings. Produced without additives and bonded with its own resin, Quad Cork is fully recyclable. Important message from Manufacturer: Cork is the natural shell of the cork tree. Jocavi cork products are 100% natural. Much of the world’s cork comes from Portugal, and cork has been used there for centuries. The properties of cork are a gift of nature, for no chemicals of any kind are needed to process it; only the natural resin of the cork tree itself. Cork is pressed into shape at very high temperatures, releasing its natural resin to bind the cork agglomerate together. Dimensional tolerances of +/- 2mm are well within industrial standards for a 100% natural material. Cork is in fact very resistant to high temperatures and has been used since ancient times by Portuguese farmers to protect their homes from the spread of fire from burning fields. Cork has a natural aroma which disappears once unpacked from the plastic sleeves. Some just love that aroma, others don’t. Cut holes in the plastic wrapping if you wish to release the odor gradually. Before installation, cork products should be handled with care. Once applied they are very strong and reveal all the material’s amazing natural characteristics. We would never recommend the application of any chemical to a pure natural material, but it is possible to lighten the natural dark color with water-based inks if desired.
