Overview - DisplayPort was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). It is primarily used to connect a digital video source such as a laptop or desktop PC to a monitor, it can also be used to transmit audio and other forms of data. It is being targeted as a computer interface and has been made to run alongside and complement HDMI, not replace it.

Not all graphics cards will support audio playback through DisplayPort. To check if you computer does, right click your speakers icon in the bottom right of your screen. You will then get a list of supported devices such as SPDIF, Headphones, HDMI, if one of these devices is DisplayPort (DP), then your DisplayPort will support audio playback. Obviously, you will also need to check that your monitor has in built speakers.
Data Transfer/Resolution - This cable is version 1.2 and is therefore suitable for up to 17.28GB/s and has a maximum resolution capability of 3840 x 2160.
Gold plated moulded connectors - Durable large contact area connectors have been used for optimum signal transfer between connections.
AWG/OFC – The lead is made using 28 gauge (AWG28) 99.99% oxygen free copper which increases the signal quality across the length of the cable.
