A:Yes, all 2 pieces are expandable.

Q:Can the lock be opened by TSA?
A:Yes, these have TSA approved locks which means TSA has a 'master key' allowing them to open and also re-lock them. (Better than having to cut the lock off and potentially damage your suitcase as well)

Q:Do I need to return all 2 piece if one case has a issue?

A:The small one has no side handle,but the big one has.
