The Canon Ixus 160 is a high resolution, long zoom camera which gives performance that you would not expect for such a small camera costing so little. It has a 20 Megapixel image sensor for up to poster size prints and has 8x Optical Zoom with 28mm (equivalent) wide angle for anything from indoor group photos to long distance shots of smaller details. For even longer zoom settings, there is 16x ZoomPlus which intelligently combines optical and digital zoom for double the range with little falloff in image quality.
The inclusion of the DIGIC 4+ Image Processor chip means that this camera features advanced functions and even has an ECO Mode for longer battery life between charges. Image modes include Smart Auto with automatic 32-scene detection, Face Detection for well focused faces with suitable brightness, plus a Help Button for instant advice.
The Ixus 160 will record 720p HD Movies with optical zoom and has a dedicated movie recording button for instant movie capture. For still images there are Creative Filters such as miniature effect and fisheye effect, plus you can control brightness and colour saturation with Preview Control on the 2.7” LCD monitor.
There is also compatibility with the Canon Connect Station for easy HDTV viewing and sharing on online albums such as Irista.
