Product Description
Gorgeous and elegant, this Riedel Vitis Pinot Noir glass is part of the brand new series launched in Spring 2007. Vitis, meaning 'vine' in Latin, is Riedel's tallest machine-made lead crystal glass, and the pinnacle of modern stemmed-glass technology featuring highly sophisticated grape varietal-specific bowls on a pulled stem. These lead crystal Pinot Noir glasses stand 10-1/4 inches tall and come in a set of 2. They are designed to highlight the fine qualities of medium-bodied red wines such as Pinot Noir, Barbaresco, Barolo, Nebbiolo, and red Burgundy.

Amazon.com Review
Vitis stands tall in the Riedel stable, literally. These glasses are the tallest made by the renowned and continually innovative glassware company. Introduced in spring 2007, Vitis (which means "vine" in Latin) is a bold, oversized extension of Riedel's Vinum Extreme collection, designed with a modern diamond-shape bowl. Both are machine-made of full-lead crystal, but Vitis stems go a step further-they are pulled from a single piece of glass, resulting in a spectacular fluidity. The bowl actually extends down into the tapered stem in a tear-drop fashion, which means the wine itself creates the lower point of the diamond.

Riedel designs the shape and size of each glass to enhance a particular variety of wine. The impressive 27-7/8-ounce capacity and broad diamond shape of the Vitis Pinot Noir bowl is designed to provide ample surface area for the appreciation of such medium-bodied red wines as a fine Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, or red Burgundy. In addition, the 10-1/4-inch height adds to the sophisticated feel of the two brilliant and beautifully balanced glasses in the set. Vitis crystal comes in a handsome Riedel box and makes a superb gift for the wine connoisseur or for anyone starting or adding to a wine glass collection. To preserve the clarity of the crystal and avoid stem breakage, the glasses are best washed by hand. --Ann Bieri
