You can get the optimum stabilize effect from 

1. Setting the hand-held tripod handle at different position.
2. Set the number of counter-weights used.
3. Set and adjust the counter-weights position.
4. Adjust the camera position.

 

You may guide the video recording by one hand holding the tripod handle while using your other hand to guide camera angle holding lightly on the counter-weight.
