Borne from research showing that 50% of the population will suffer from hair thinning， with 45% of women losing hair by the age of 80 and 85% of men having their hair significantly thin by the age of 50， Redken has based its product development on affecting the life cycle in hair follicle growth which grows about 1 centimetre of hair every month in three growth phases. When the hair follicles spend more time resting in the Telogen (third) phase， rather than the Anagen (first) growth phase， hair loss can occur or hair may become finer as it grows.
