It is a media that utilizes an oxidation-reduction reaction and filtration process similar to Greensand, but at a much higher level of performance. Filox™ contains 80% manganese dioxide in an extremely unique cluster format for enhanced performance and maximized capacity. Filox™ out performs Greensand, Brim, Pyrolox, Terminox, etc. due to the purity of its particles, superior oxidation/filtration capacity, and durability.Iron is one of the most common elements found in nature, and most ground waters contain a measurable amount of iron. Iron stains bathtubs, toilets, sinks, driveways and it will even stain the side of your house in sufficient concentrations. The Filox™ backwashing filter is a non-chemical oxidizing media to reduce iron. Filox™ System Advantages Highest flow rate of any iron removal media - Because of its superior performance potential, Filox supports a significantly higher service flow rate per bed size and can be used in smaller filters than Birm and Greensand. An 9: diameter Filox filter actually exceeds the service flow capacity of a 12: diameter Birm or Greensand filter.
