The material they are made of is a little flimsy, but that's not really a problem. Once they're up on the wall they look much better than they feel. The price is right for this level of quality. The light shines up and down. The inside of the black fixture is painted white but isn't really noticeable. We installed three of them in a deticated home theater and they look great! We used 40 watt fully dimable bulbs and the the light radiates nicely below and above the units. Very easy to instal and the overall quality was good.
