Caladryl lotion is a topical anti-itch medication that works to protect the skin and is also an analgesic (painkiller)
Caladryl functions in order to soothe pains and aches that are caused by sun burn, bug bites, skin irritation, minor wounds and rashes
It also works to dry oozing that results from poison oak, sumac and ivy.
The two active components of Caladryl lotion are calamine and pramoxine HCl. The anti-itch lotion is 8 percent calamine, and 1 percent pramoxine HCl.
The calamine functions to protect and soothe skin, while the pramoxine HCl works as a topical treatment to ease the pain or irritation of the affected area.
