Highly detailed 1/48 scale model kit of the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik, a World War II era ground attack aircraft developed by the Soviet Union. Nicknamed the "Flying Tank" or the "Flying Infantryman" by Russian soldiers and "Black Death" by the Germans, the Shturmovik was indeed a very effective ground attack aircraft of the era. Heavily armed, the Shturmovik excel in close air support of ground forces by attacking enemy tanks and infantry formations from very low altitudes, and its thick armor protection gave the Shturmovik the ability to absorb heavy battle damage. Over 36,000 Shturmovik of all variants were manufactured, making it the most produced military aircraft in history. This 1/48 scale model kit features the Il-2M variant with 120 parts molded in gray and clear plastic, optional weighted or unweighted tires, optional canopies, and lots of accessories.
