释迦牟尼佛

原名乔达摩·悉达多（巴利文：Gotama Siddhattha；梵文: (Siddhārtha Gautama），

古印度迦毗罗卫国（今尼泊尔南部）释迦族人，佛教的创始者。“释迦牟尼”意为释迦族的圣人。

成佛后的释迦牟尼，被尊称为佛陀，意思是大彻大悟之人，对宇宙人生真相彻底的了解，于一刹那（75分之一秒），

时时相应，遍照无余，普照十方三世一切人和事物，无有一毫谬误，故世尊所说法皆契合真理；

民间信仰佛教的人也常称呼佛祖、如来佛祖、我佛如来或释迦佛等。

在佛教中记载着农历的四月初八是佛教鼻祖（创立佛教的始祖）释迦牟尼佛诞辰日。
（汉语读音释迦牟尼shì jiā móu ní，牟为多音字，在这里读móu。）

释迦牟尼来自古印度，传播到中国已经有几千年历史，很多中国人信佛
