Studio : Sunglory Publisher : Sunglory Product Description This stencil can be used in a number of ways and with a variety of materials-practically anything that can be spread or sprinkled over the stencil. They can be used on top of any cake surface that isn't wet,so far buttercream, make sure the surface has a dry skin or is chilled in the refrigerator/freezer and is not tacky or sticky. Other surface are rolled fondant, royal icing and gum paste. Stencil can also be used for decorations on petit fours and other confectionery items. How to Make Royal Icing for spreading over the stencil: - 5 tablespoons of meringue powder - 1 one-pound box of confectioners' sugar(about 4cups) With electric mixer, beat meringue powder, confectioners' sugar and up to 6 Tablespoons of water. Add water a little at a time and beat on medium speed (approx 10 minutes) until a soft peak forms. If the icing is too thin, lift up the stencil. Always try a sample on parchment first to make sure you have the right consistency. You can also "paint" the pattern directly on the surface of your cakes/cookies. Use an air brush or stencil brush to apply gel food colors or make your "paint" with powder colors and clear alcohol(vodka). Put a small amount of color on a plate, dip the end of your brush in the color, then wipe the bristles on a paper towel. Dab or swirl the brush over the stencil. This dry brush technique will keep the color from running under the stencil and give the pattern crisp edges. For an added touch, align a clean stencil over dry, raised royal icing then color with brush and liquid colors. 0
