D-alpha tocopherol content is standardized at 100 IU in its free, unesterified form. D-alpha, the most active and best-studied isomer of vitamin E, helps stabilize and protect cell membranes and tissues susceptible to oxidation such as the eyes, lungs, arteries, and skin.
