About
The MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) is a new mobile audio/video interface standard for directly connecting mobile phones and other portable consumer electronics (CE) devices to high-definition televisions (HDTVs) and displays. The MHL standard features a single-cable with a low pin-count interface able to support up to 1080p high-definition (HD) video and digital audio while simultaneously charging the connected device.

How to use
Setting up an MHL connection in your home theatre is easy. If you have an MHL-compliant HDTV, plug your smartphone or tablet directly into your HDTV via the MHL cable, and you should be all set to start outputting high-definition video right from your mobile device. If you don't own an MHL-compliant television, simply take one additional step: After plugging your MHL-to-HDMI adapter cable into your HDTV's HDMI port as well as into the Micro-USB port on your mobile device, go ahead and plug a Micro-USB charger (which should have come with your smartphone or tablet) directly into the Micro-USB port on the adapter cable itself (restart your phone/tablet when necessary). This arrangement will allow you to output video from your device to your HDTV as usual, while also charging your device at the same time.
And that's it! The MHL system is completely plug-and-play: Your device will flip to landscape mode when it's plugged in, and it will push the desktop display to your television.
