Your cheese platter should include at least one each of soft ( like a brie), blue (gorgonzola is my favorite), aged, and firm/hard (Parmesan). Trader Joe's has a great selection and plenty of knowledgeable people to help you pick some house favorites. Remember: Your goal is to delight, bring people together and, hopefully, introduce people to something new, so it is a good idea to serve one familiar crowd-pleaser such as chevre, manchego or our favorite aged cheddar, like Beechers' flagship! Choose between four and five varieties. When purchasing the supplies for your plates, a good rule of thumb is 3 to 4 ounces of cheese per person. Don't forget your accompaniments!
