Caring for Newborn Kittens
If you've just been given the job of being a foster parent to a kitten, lucky you! The kitten should be nursing and getting his mother's milk, but if that's not possible because the mother has rejected the kitten, isn't lactating, or is just absent, it's time to step in.

Introducing the KMR Kitten Liquid Milk Replacer 12oz:
KMR Kitten Milk Replacer Powder (12 oz) Pet Ag KMR is a milk replacer for kittens that gives extra nutrition and temporary immunity against some diseases. It closely matches mother's milk in protein and energy for a healthier kitten. Recommended as a food source for orphaned or rejected kittens or those nursing, but needing supplemental feeding. Also recommended for growing kittens or adult cats that are stressed and require a source of highly digestible nutrients. Powdered form, just mix with warm water.

Direction for Mixing KMW Powder:
Gently stir or shake 1 part powdered KMR into 2 parts warm water (a part may be a teaspoon, tablespoon or cup). Do not mix more KMR than can be consumed in 24 hours. Do not use a blender. Reconstituted KMR should be kept refrigerated. One 12 oz. (340g) can of powder makes approximately 60 oz. (1.7L) of liquid mixed 1.2.

Directions for Feeding:
All kittens should receive their mother's milk for at least 2 days, if possible. This colostrum milk gives extra nutrition and temporary immunity against some diseases. Warm reconstituted KMR to room or body temperature before serving. Feed kittens 2 tablespoons (30ml) of liquid KMR per 4 ounces (115g) of body weight daily. The daily feeding amount should be divided into equal portions for each feeding. Kitten's need will cary and this amount may have to be increased or decreased depending on the individual. Young and/or weak kittens should be fed every 3 to 4 hours. Older kittens can do well being fed every hours. Weigh the kittens 3 times per week to assure adequate feeding. Consult your veterinarian for additional advice. The PetAg 2oz. (60mL) Small Animal Nurser is suited for feeding most kittens. When kittens are old enough to lap, begin offering reconstituted KMR in a saucer. During the 5th week mix reconstituted KMR and KMR® 2nd Step™ Kitten Weaning Food. Use of the KMR and 2nd Step will allow the kitten to be gradually switched to solid food.

Pregnant and lactating queens:
Feed 2 teaspoons (4g) KMR powder per 5 lbs. (2.2kg) body weight daily.
Growing kittens already on solid food, show cats, and/or convalescing cats:Feed 1 teasppon (2kg) KMW powder per 5 lbs. (2.2kg) body weight daily by top dressing food.
