"This is such an ingenius product! I use it on my 2-month old daily.

It's a pretty simple contraption and when I first opened it, I felt ripped off. $14 for a tube?! Well, now I've done a complete 180 and think this should be in every nursery.

HOW IT WORKS: It's simple. You stick the open blue end near the baby's nostril opening. Then suck on the red part. There's a small round sponge filter to guarantee you don't suck in any boogies. But seriously, you would need massive sucking power to do that, even if the filter wasn't there.

FILTER: One should last forever. See above for why. If you do get grossed out, it's not a big deal to pop it out and rinse it. I would love to meet one person who can actually suck so hard that something would even touch the filter.

CLEANING: All the parts come apart and snap back together very easily. It's easy to pop the blue "bulb" off to rinse. That said, even with wet boogies, I find they don't rinse off easily. But the opening is just big enough to fit a q-tip to wipe it clean.

TIP: I've found that using a little saline solution will make the job much easier. It loosens everything (even if baby doesn't have dried boogies) so all you need is one to two sucks on each nostril. Trust me, baby will appreciate this.

COMPARISON TO HOSPITAL BULB: No comparison...hands down this is better. I was sent home with the standard hospital-issued bulb and I hated that 1. you can't see what you extract (to make sure the job was done) and 2. Tough to clean. The thought of boogies stuck inside that big bulb for who-knows-how long is ewwwwww. Also, my lactation consultant said not to use the bulb too often on a newborn because the inside of their nostrils are still pretty sensitive membranes and you can cause damage. I use the snotsucker daily without worrying about it.

We live in a pretty dry climate so I find dried boogies almost every morning. Doing this before his feeding makes me feel good that he can breathe without interrupting or being uncomfortable breastfeeding.

Lastly, I'm sure this will be a lifesaver when my little guy actually gets sick for the first time. I think this is such an amazing product I would highly recommend it to everyone!"
