Product Description
All breastfeeding babies should get a daily supplement of Vitamin D While breast milk is the best source of nutrients for babies, it likely won't provide enough Vitamin D. Your baby needs Vitamin D to absorb calcium and phosphorus. Too little can cause rickets, a softening and weakening of bones. Since sun exposure - an important source of Vitamin D - isn't recommended for babies younger than 6 months, a liquid supplement is the best way to prevent a Vitamin D deficiency in infants. Supplementation of Vitamin D3 is recommended because breastfed infants generally do not obtain adequate amounts from other sources. Referred to as the "Sunshine Vitamin", Vitamin D3 is often not as available to infants because it is suggested to avoid over-exposing them to the sun for their first 6 months. It's important that breastfed infants receive an adequate supply of Vitamin D through a supplement of 400 IU per day. Unless the child is drinking 32 ounces of infant formula per day, a Vitamin D supplement is required. If your child is not consuming enough Vitamin D in his or her diet, a supplement may be needed. Make sure to only use the oral syringe provided in the package. Using other droppers, even those provided with another brands of liquid Vitamin D3, could result in an overdose. Try to administer at the same time every day so that you don't forget and miss a dose. However, if you do miss a dose, simply resume the next day, since occasionally missing a day will not harm the baby.Feature
