We have found that the app lacks compatibility with the devices that we have in our home. We have 2 iOS phones, 2 Android phones, an Android tablet, and two Chromebooks. The app won't work for any of these. The instruction booklet that comes with the unit is very detailed, but there are images that are reversed, which has required us to undo what we have constructed pages before. To see the instructions clearly, I have used a small halogen flashlight and a magnifying glass. Despite the need for the flashlight and the magnifying glass, the instructions are much better than what I have found with other products that require assembly. I have not found their tech support to be of value at all due to the reps language difficulties with English and his lack of familiarity with the product. When I asked about the function of the app, I was told that it is used as a method of power supply for the robot. Sourcing videos online from owners of the product has been far more helpful than going to the company that makes the robot. They are into RC cars and drones and this robot kind of fits in the same category. Once they opened the box they became intimidated with the vagueness of the instructions and volume of parts. It actually put them off from wanting to even start. I waited a little bit and then encouraged them to give it another try.The initial software update wasn't automatically triggered when plugging in the usb cable. We had to download the software and manually perform the update. I work in IT so it was no problem but I could see some other folks finding it difficult. Once we got beyond that and my boys' initial urge to rush into it without carefully following the instructions things went better. It is slow going and we are not yet done with construction.It's an interesting project but it can be intimidating, it's more complex than Legos and it requires a good amount of focus.
