Formulary's Iron Blue Toner is an inexpensive and effective blue toner similar to Ansco Toner 241. It is often used on snow scenes and seascapes. Prints are toned in a single solution of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide until they appear green. After washing they turn a clear blue color. The tones can be softened in a borax bath.
