About the Event
Community Chest and Marina Bay Sands are proud to kick-start the SG50 festivities for the Golden Jubilee Weekend with Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2015 – SG50 Community Heartbeats.

This fun walk, along the scenic Marina Bay Waterfront, is for everyone to join in and celebrate Singapore as an inclusive and giving nation.

Marking SG50, a special drumming activity will see beneficiaries, corporate volunteers and the community at large coming together to create one rhythm signifying the united heartbeat of one Singapore.

You can take part in the heart-pounding competitive “Race to the Sky Vertical Marathon”, and climb 57 levels to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. Or simply enjoy the Family Carnival with fun activities for the kids, including face painting, balloon sculptures and handicrafts.

Come join us, walk for a good cause, and make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged. Your donations will enable and empower beneficiaries in over more than 80 charities, supported by Community Chest.
Click “Buy” to register for the Fun Walk and receive one (1) corporate-sponsored goodie bag while stocks last! Each $10 donation admits one (1) to the Fun Walk

Gregory is sixteen but has never walked unassisted in his life.
At eight months, he had a high fever, which resulted in epileptic fits, and affected his ability to stand or walk. By the age of three, Gregory was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a brain condition which weakens the control of the muscles of his hands and legs.

Since 2005, Gregory has been receiving mobile therapy at the Community Integration Service (formerly known as AWWA Teach Me services).
He has since increased his muscle tone and is able to walk with support of a walking frame at home, though his movement is slow and laborious. In school, Gregory uses a wheelchair and motorised scooter to move around on his own.

From a shy and reserved child, Gregory has now grown up to become an out-spoken and jovial teenager and participates in school and community activities.
With help from his family, teachers, therapists and many others who have supported the Community Integration Service through their donations to Community Chest, Gregory has been able to come this far.
Gregory’s greatest wish is to represent Singapore at the Paralympics someday.

Help youths like Gregory realise their dreams and embark on a journey of gaining confidence.
Your donations are vital in helping Gregory and others like him. Make a difference today.

About the Care & Share @ SG50 Movement
Care & Share is a national fund-raising and volunteerism movement led by Community Chest for the social service sector, in celebration of SG50 this year. It aims to bring our nation together to show care and concern for the needy and recognise contributions made by voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs). Eligible donations raised by Community Chest and participating VWOs from now till 31 March 2016 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the government. The matched amount will go towards building the capabilities and capacities of the social service sector and supporting social services to meet rising needs. To contribute to this Movement, please visit their webpage at www.careandshare.sg or email to csm@ncss.gov.sg.
